TELEPSYCHOLOGY
WHAT IS TELEPSYCHOLOGY?
In practical terms, telepsychology is conducting psychotherapy and consultations on the phone or online.
Technically speaking, telepsychology is the provision of psychological services via telecommunication technology.
This includes telehealth (voice only) and telemedicine (audio plus visual communication).
HOW DO I USE TELEPSYCHOLOGY?
I use a HIPAA compliant platform, Doxy.me, in which we can see and hear each other simultaneously, and your privacy is protected.
A few minutes before our appointment time, I will email you with the link to my virtual waiting room. Just click on the link and write your first name. Your name will appear in my waiting room and I will click on it to welcome you into my virtual office. We will work together as if we were in the same room.
You don’t have to download any software. Just click on my link.
FOR BEST TECHNOLOGICAL RESULTS
This platform will work on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. For best results, you need to use a fairly current operating system. It is also best if you close all windows and apps before clicking on my link. If you are using WiFi, try to locate your device fairly near the router.
If we have any difficulties connecting, we can communicate with each other via a chat box, and I will call you on the phone immediately if we are disconnected.
IS THIS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE?
Before we begin to work together, you need to contact your insurance company to confirm that you have coverage for video sessions. If video sessions are not covered, you are responsible for full payment.
